Basic Life Support training was provided to all staff members in a training programme spread over two weeks. The training was attended by all categories of staff. Dr.Bharathi Mohan (Anaesthesiologist & Intensive Care specialist) provided the training to all the members.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is a relatively short training course required of most clinical health professionals and public safety personnel. It’s also a requirement for a number of jobs and volunteer work, including lifeguards, coaches, and some teachers.
Basic life support (BLS) includes recognition of signs of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), heart attack, stroke, and foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO); cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); and defibrillation with an automated external defibrillator (AED).
The 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC recommend a change in the BLS sequence of steps from A-B-C (Airway, Breathing, Chest compressions) to C-A-B (Chest compressions, Airway, Breathing) for adults, children, and infants (excluding the newly born; see Neonatal Resuscitation section).
