Medicinal Plants Cultivation Project Under Nabard

Atwo year project for sustainable agriculture for tribal farmers by cultivation of medicinal plants with support from NABARD under Farming Sector Promotion Fund (FSPF) was started in September 2019. The project beneficiaries were 100 farmers from 4 tribal villages of Sholayur Panchayat. Moolagangal, Vellakulam, Chavadiyur and Oothukuzhy are the four villages identified for the project.

As part of the project, a mother nursery has been established in Malleeswara Vidyanikethan School campus. The mother nursery contains all the nine species of plants selected for the project. Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) is providing technical support for the project. The plant materials harvested by the farmers are being procured by Artha Herbs and Derivatives India Pvt Ltd., a subsidiary company of Arya Vaidya Pharmacy.
